The very first Messianic churches hosted worship services over dinner in their homes. Their members tended the sick, cared for widows and orphaned children, and gave their possessions to the poor. As the church grew, it began establishing schools, hospitals, and other community organizations to ensure collective flourishing.

As the body of Christ, the church is a community of Christians working to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world. The church is not simply Sunday worship and small groups, but is also a dynamic community of service. Whatever your gifts may be, there is a place for you to serve with TUMC, whether it’s on our campus, in the local Austin community, or out in the world.

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.  -1 Peter 4:10
